Randolph Matthews

Randolph Matthews brings on to the stage the very same hat and suitcase that his father carried when he migrated during the 60’s from Grenada to London. Its a reminder that the journey of pain and the unknown is where the inspiration of music is born. With a series of crafted original songs combined with distinctively re-worked covers this is the essential Randolph Matthews.

London based Vocalist/Producer Randolph Matthews performance described by Blues and Soul magazine as “Uniquely Original” spans over two decades which has brought him international recognition and followers everywhere. Using a loop sampler, technology and his voice he creates music and takes audiences on a soul jazz inspired journey singing original songs with soulful electronic beats and a twist of stories.

Randolph Matthews has performed at Glastonbury, O2 Arena, Buckingham Palace ,BBC Hackney Weekender, Trade – Berlin, North Sea Jazz Festival and the Royal Albert Hall.
He has also supported and collaborated with a host of international artist including Will I Am, Grace Jones, Richard Bona, and Brit award winner Plan B.Recently Randolph has been inspired by his London Jazz roots which has led to his current release ‘Untamed’. This album is aptly titled and is recorded solo with only a loop sampler and a studio audience.Due for release in Autumn 2017.

So put on your hat, grab your suitcase and follow Randolph on his vocally “untamed” musical journey.

Randolph Matthews – Afro Blues Project – “Blue Queen” album 2017

Jazz, soul, world music, blues all these tags apply to singer songwriter and multi vocalist Randolph Matthews, but the England born British singer really earns the latter with his latest project.
The Afro blues “Blue Queen”Album is a stunning collaboration with Italian musician Pablo Leoni and Alessandro Diaferio bringing together a swampy mix of contemporary blues similar to Eric Bibb,
Jimi Hendrix, and Ben Harper in vocal style and roots.

Randolph’s expressive British delivery compliments the New Orleans style drum grooves of Pablo and Alessandro’s versatile electro acoustic blues guitar playing. The trio who first met in London back in 2012 at Ronnie Scotts live jam session offer up original songs covering the diaspora of colours in blues. The three musicians though born in completely different worlds share the same universal expression of blues music that travels and connects with real feelings.

The Afro blues project “Blue Queen” Album is on release on major online distributors Spotify  and Itunesᅠand touring throughout Europe.
