Bio English

AL CATASSO – is the founding member of the band and he has created a group who’s honest intention is to be nothing less than a certified “POWER TRIO”. Using the simple and logical combination of Guitar, Bass and Drums, the band hits the creative retro sound and emotional nerve that was the heart and soul of the 1960’s and early 1970’s best music.

Consider such great bands as Leslie West’s Mountain, Rory Gallagher’s “Taste”, Jimmy Page’s Led Zeppelin, Beck, Bogert and Appice along with the legendary Allman Brothers Band and this will give you a good idea of the magic we are speaking of today.

The Black Jack – spark new life into the classic sounds of these monumental, historic and long established bands. Their new compositions, both published and unpublished in no way attempt to hide the roots of their famous forerunners, the band performs in a totally modern and innovative manner. Through this band, you will find Jazz and Blues walking side by side with contemporary rock artists such as Government Mule, Tom Principato, Living Colour, Muddy Waters, Miles Davis, Wes Montgomery, Mr. Big and
Buddy Guy are all respectfully represented.

The Black Jack’s repertory of cover material has been duly used, but only as a spring-board to allow the band to propel itself into the extended whirling jams, recognisable / memorable intricate medley’s. All this is on a personal level, making the term “Classic Music”
and its long standing history still seem progressive, vital and new, even in 2007!

Al Catasso is the ultimate band leader and everything is under his direct supervision and control. Al can also present a list of never ending live experiences as part of his impressive accomplishments, including playing at the “Monteux Jazz Festival – Italy’s Blues Mecca…etc.

Jimi Hendrix, Experience, Rory Gallagher, Led Zeppelin,
Taste, Allmann Brothers Band etc.

Die Band erweiterte später ihre Musikrichtung;
jazzige/bluesige Einflüsse kamen hinzu.

Gov`t Mule, Tom Principato, Nebula, Muddy Waters,
Wes Montgomery, Miles Davis, Living Colour, Red Hot Chilly Peppers.
