Lidiya Koycheva & Balkan Orkestra
ITALY WORLD MUSIC BAND #1

A   powerful, magnetic voice and music that moves and unites, Lidiya Koycheva, a   Bulgarian artist based in Italy, fuses Balkan traditions with Mediterranean   and modern sounds in her project “Lidiya Koycheva & Balkan Orkestra.”

After   a European tour of more than 90 dates and the release of the album Balkan   Memories, Lidiya is now preparing her new traditional music album Jovano   (scheduled for release on November 28, 2025),
as well as an album of original   compositions in March 2026, where patchanka meets the Balkan soul in a   boundless celebration.

The   daughter of artists, Lidiya Koycheva was born in Gabrovo, in the heart of   Bulgaria, into a family where music is both breath and vocation. Her father,   an internationally renowned accordionist, singer, and composer, and her   mother, a professional dancer of traditional Balkan dances, introduced her to   music from an early age.

She   began studying classical piano and, together with her father and younger   brother Angel, took part in international competitions across Europe, winning   numerous prizes and awards.

At 17,   she moved to Italy, where she earned her piano degree and rediscovered her   first love: singing and Balkan folk music. The irregular rhythms, trills,   dissonances, and visceral power of her homeland’s music became her artistic   voice.

After   years of collaborations and touring, Lidiya has established herself on the   World Music scene, performing at festivals such as WOMAD Festival (Peter   Gabriel, UK), the May Day Concert (Rome), La Notte della Taranta   (Melpignano), Cous Cous Festival, Terra Madre, Inedited World Music Festival,   and many others across Germany, France, Austria, England, Switzerland, the   Netherlands, the Czech Republic, and Poland.

She   has recorded six albums and shared the stage with Goran Bregović, Dzambo   Agusevi, Incognito, Eugenio Bennato, Dubioza Kolektiv, and many more.

In   2022, the project “Lidiya Koycheva & Balkan Orkestra” was born — an   explosion of energy, rhythm, and sonic fusion that blends roots, virtuosity,   and an extraordinary communicative power.

With   their debut album “Balkan Memories,” the group embarked on a European tour of   more than 80 concerts, performing at festivals such as CinEast, Luxembourg   Film Festival, Pannonica (Poland), Folk Est (Italy),
and other international   events.

In 2025,   Lidiya will release a new album dedicated to traditional Balkan music,   followed in February 2026 by an album of original compositions,
where the   sounds of the Balkans merge with those of the mediterranean and patchanka,   creating a unique, multicultural, and energetic result.
